Woman needs rescuing after she tries to rescue cat from tree

A woman in Erie, Pennsylvania needed rescuing from a tree after she climbed up to rescue a cat that was stranded in it.

Local residents told the Erie Times-News that they’ve heard the cat crying for the past couple of days, but did not know who its owner was.

Twenty-one-year-old Tara Dennis said she couldn’t stand by and do nothing. So she scaled a fence, climbed onto a nearby garage roof and onto one of the tree’s branches. She eventually reached the animal, which she tucked into her shirt. However, Dennis then found she had trouble getting back down.

A neighbor called 911, which led to firefighters coming to Dennis’ rescue.

Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Carroll said firefighters first carried down the cat, then helped Dennis.
